Advanced Functional Safety Practice - 2 Day Course


This course is for those that already have some familiarity with the functional safety standards IEC 61508/61511, but wish to expand their competence. The course is specifically designed to explore the practical concerns with implementation of the safety lifecycle. In the ‘real world’ there are a variety of constraints that make full implementation of the theoretical model impracticable; this course identifies these difficulties and shows how they may be addressed. The course is interactive and will involve a variety of exercises using software tools.

SISSuite Training - 2 Day Course


This course is specifically for those that wish to learn about the features within the SISSuite toolset and how best to make use of them. The course is interactive and will involve a variety of exercises using SISSuite. There will be incidental training on functional safety and the 61508/61511 standards, but the focus is on SISSuite as a SIS/SIF management tool. Safety Instrumented Systems - Engineers - 1 Day Course



For management / engineers:

  • Overview of the functional safety approach and requirements of the standards
  • SIL determination, (including risk of SIL inflation)
  • Requirements for Verification
  • Operation and Maintenance Issues

We would be happy to talk about engineering aspects, (design, equipment selection, calculations, certification etc.) but do not see these as key requirements for the groups you have identified. The above training would be delivered by Harvey T. Dearden and would be aimed at providing a greater understanding of the Functional Safety standards and how they are to be applied to an operational process plant. Harvey has been delivering and developing training courses within both a structured environment and content but is also able to develop the content to suit the interests of those on the day while maintaining the overall aims of the training.
